GD Academy provides courses related to animal diseases for farm staff and their veterinarians, the veterinary pharmaceutical industry, the animal feed industry and the government. As GD operates one of the largest veterinary laboratories in the world, this enables its Academy to offer theoretical and practical courses on the implementation of veterinary diagnostic lab-test methods as well.
Sjaak de Wit, DVM, PhD, dipl. ECPSV, Senior Scientist R&D and GD Academy teacher:
“Involving both our own experts and external speakers, we can cover multiple disciplines on a high level. The available knowledge is extensive and we like to share this with our participants, in order to contribute to healthy and sustainable farming worldwide.”
Courses can be fully custom-made or can be offered as open courses. To provide insight in the possibilities, you can find some examples of (previous) courses below.
Last year, an intensive four-week training was organized for four pig specialists from China. This course was fully custom-made and covered both theory at GD and practical work at pig farms. Participation in this course enabled the four pig specialists to apply their new knowledge in China immediately. Also, we organise tailor-made programs for pharmaceutical companies and veterinary laboraties.
In February 2017, our Poultry training was organized for the second time. This five-day open training was organised for poultry veterinarians at the beginning of their career, and poultry farm managers from all over the world. The training includes lectures, practical trainings, demonstrations and farm visits. In March 2018, you can participate in this training as well!
Also, GD's ruminant experts are involved in several training programmes on udder health, milk quality, hoof health, infectious diseases and feed.
