Arne Vanhoudt, DVM, PhD, Dipl. ECBHM - EBVS®

Biography

 

Arne Vanhoudt graduated as veterinary surgeon from Ghent University, Belgium, in 2009. Hereafter he moved to the United Kingdom to work in farm animal practice for a while, followed by a 3-year residency in bovine health management at the Royal Veterinary College, University of London, UK. During his time at the Royal Veterinary College, Arne was involved in welfare audits for a UK supermarket. In 2015, Arne started a position as lecturer in bovine health management at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Utrecht University. He combined his teaching position with research: first on selective dry cow therapy, followed by a PhD on applied veterinary research on bovine digital dermatitis. In 2016 he passed the boarding examination and became a European Veterinary Specialist in Bovine Health Management (Dipl. ECBHM - EBVS®).

Since 2022 he joined Royal GD where he is involved in the national disease surveillance for cattle, bovine foot health and contract research. Arne is particularly interested in foot health, cow comfort and animal welfare.
