Biography
Jasper grew up on a family dairy farm in Holland. He studied veterinary medicine at the University of Utrecht (DVM title 1997). He was co-owner of a veterinary clinic in the North of The Netherlands and has worked as practitioner and for more than 21 years. Besides managing a practice with a team of more than 20 employees he focussed more and more on regularly practical and consulting services of health management on dairy farms. He also participated in several committees and expert panels. Since 2018 he works at GD Animal Health in Deventer as part of the Ruminant Health monitoring team and in a product team on infectious diseases. On a part-time basis he is entrepreneur as animal health consultant and practitioner.
Jasper likes to translate scientific knowledge into practical tools for the farmer to improve the anima lhealth and welfare, resulting in better technical- and financial result and a happy farmer. He has a special interest in dairy cattle management and prevention of disease on dairy farms. During his daily work he likes to solve complicated animal health problems on dairy farms. The interaction between the (patho)physiology of the animal and the influence of the environment and specifically of the farmer, are key in finding solutions for problems. Especially where issues affect the society, they arouse the interest of Jasper. On the other hand, the total dairy production chain from cow to consumer is very important for him. In the dairy production chain the production of high quality food of healthy cows on a sustainable way is of great importance for feeding the worlds next generations.
