I was born on July 8, 1989 in Venlo, the Netherlands. After obtaining my pre-university degree at “Blariacumcollege” in Venlo, I started studying Veterinary Medicine at Utrecht University. In 2014, I graduated as a veterinarian in the master program farm animals/veterinary public health at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Utrecht University, the Netherlands.
In December 2014, I started my PhD research at the Department of Reproduction, Obstetrics and Herd Health, at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Ghent University, Belgium. The PhD research focused on control measures against Salmonella Typhimurium infections in pigs, and was funded by the Belgian Federal Public Service of Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment through the contract [SUSALVAC; RT14/3]. She obtained her PhD in December 2019.
I'm (co-)author of several publications in international peer reviewed journals, and I actively participated in several national and international congresses where I presented the results of her PhD research. Additionally, I lectured and supervised several bachelor and master students.
Currently, I'm working as a swine veterinarian in the swine department of Royal GD in Deventer, the Netherlands, and I'm a resident of the European college of Porcine Health Management.
