''As a European pig health specialist I have been committed to the health of pigs for years, in the interest of animals, human health and the environment. I see animal health as the precondition for continuing to keep pigs. That is why, as head pig vet at Royal GD, I work with clients and partners on concrete, pragmatic solutions for the long term. Sustainable solutions that take into account the continuously changing conditions in which pigs are kept. GD also keeps a close eye on the health of animals in the Netherlands through animal health monitoring. In this way we can receive signals about animal health as early as possible and, if necessary, take immediate action.''

My motto: Better to prevent than to cure
I have been working as a pig vet for over twenty years. Since 2017 I can call myself a registered European Specialist in pig health. In 1997 I started as a vet in a mixed practice where I was mainly involved in aujeszky grafting and blood drawing. After four years I made the switch to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Utrecht. There I taught young future veterinarians the subject of Pig Medicine. It became increasingly clear to me at that time that a problem on a pig farm cannot be tackled sustainably with one simple solution. No, the entire company must be scrutinized to avoid a problem. This is the result of PorQ, a veterinary consultancy in pig farming, which focuses on health instead of disease and on prevention and hygiene instead of cure.
I currently work as Head of Pig Vets at the Animal Health Service. Here I support, together with a team of veterinarians and the laboratory, Dutch veterinarians and pig farmers in the care of the health of their pigs.
