Ryan van Egmond

Ryan grew up on a family dairy farm in Holland. He attended the Higher Agricultural School (BSc (Ing) titel 1985)and after that he went to study veterinary medicine at the University of Utrecht (DVM titel 1991). He has worked as Technical advisor in the pharmaceutical industry for the companies Pharmacia and Pfizer animal health and has been working as a veterinarian practitioner in the Netherlands and Sweden. Since 2015 he works at GD in Deventer with the focus on dairy udder health and dairy cow nutrition.

Ryan likes to translate scientific knowledge into practical tools for the dairy manager or farmer to make his life easier and to optimize the technical- and financial results of the farm. He has a special interest in dairy cattle management and prevention of disease on big dairy farms. During his daily work he likes to solve complicated animal health problems on dairy farms. Ryan always tries to ensure that the solutions he offers are simple and easy to implement during the daily work of the farmer. On the other hand, the total dairy production chain from cow to consumer is very important for him. In the dairy production chain the production of high quality milk of healthy cows is of great importance.
