From 14 - 18 October 2019, GD and Aeres Training Centre International organize an advanced level training on poultry production, focusing on major diseases and how to approach them.

GD Animal Health (3 days)

  • Approaching important diseases on an integrated level
    The importance of a structural treatment/eradication and monitoring system for important poultry diseases. 
  • Immunology
    Basics of the avian immune system and its implications for health and diseases. 
  • Basics of laboratory tests
    Most common laboratory tests are explained and advantages and disadvantages are mentioned. 
  • Interpretation of laboratory results
    How do the characteristics of tests effect the interpretation of results?
  • Basics of monitoring systems
    How to set up a viable monitoring system for different poultry diseases. 
  • Important viral diseases
    Major viral diseases such as Avian Influenza, Newcastle Disease, Infectious Bronchitis and Infectious Bursal Diseases are discussed in-depth. The session concludes with a case study in which participants are encouraged to clinical reasoning to come to a diagnosis and approach. 
  • Important bacterial diseases
    Focusing on major bacterial diseases such as Mycoplasma and Typhoid Salmonella. 
  • Important parasitic diseases
    With a focus on Coccidiosis, how to diagnose, treat and prevent disease and economic losses. 
  • Important non-infectous diseases
    Diseases caused by non-infectious causes are discussed, for example related to feed and climate. 
  • Cases
    Interactive session focused on a disease problem, consisting of analysis, interpretation and diagnosis and designing an action plan. 
  • Laboratory tour
    A tour of the laboratory facility in Deventer.

Aeres Training Centre International: feed and climate (2 days)
A practical and theoretical session on feed and climate on poultry farms, including:

  • looking in to the nutrition needs and the effect that feed production has on the feed quality for layers and broilers;
  • visit laying farm with the focus on layer feed;
  • climate standards for poultry;
  • different kind of ventilation systems;
  • climate control broiler and layer house;
  • measuring climate factors in  a broiler house.

Target audience

For professionals who completed the Introduction into Poultry Health, Climate and Feed or have 5 to 10 years work experience in poultry production.


€2.995, including hotel stay, breakfast, lunch, coffee/tea, transfers between GD Animal Health and the hotel, transfer to Aeres (excluding VAT).
